Q: Read "The Overthrow of the Monarchy", an article from the in-flight magazine on Aloha Airlines. The article provides an overview of the United States' overthrow of the Hawaiian monarchy. If Queen Liliuokalani had a Twitter account, what would she have said (or "tweeted") during the event? Using the date January 14, as a starting point - create a list of tweets from the Queen documenting the events from January 14 to January 17. Use only the information in the article for your source. To see how I want you to format this post, read this post on my blog. Remember, no more than 140 characters per entry.

week:04

Q: Read this post from a blog documenting the history of West Indians (people from the Caribbean islands). The blog post discusses several of the issues faced by workers during the construction of the Panama Canal. Write a short journal entry from the point of view of one of the West Indian workers detailing the dangers they faced during the construction of one of the most pivotal man made structures in the world.

A: The building of the panama canal went through 2 phases. The French ( 1881-1889) and American ( 1904-1914) period. In that time building it their were 500 people died every mile, but in a total of deaths they said around 25,000. Some diseases Malaria, Yellow Fever, dysentery, typhoid, dengue they all took a grand toll on lives. It was also know as the "the white mans grave". Although, Panama was also way more deadly for black men then it was for the white. The most brave people through out that time were known as the "Powder men", and they were the ones that transported dynamite my head, and shoulders along with the men who drilled holes on the rocky precipices, regarding in the "accidental explosions."

Q:Explore the website for the School of the Americas Watch, an anti-SOA organization that calls for its closing. Look at some of the groups arguments against the SOA. Should the United States be able to operate such an organization and train people in the practice of the coup d'etat? Use the facts from the SOA site to help you formulate your argument. Blog about it.

A: Yes, because it's for their own defense towards the "School of Assasins". If the graduates in Panama come for the work in the united states theirs a chance that they can bring assasins along behind them from their country leading us americans in danger. The more people that are experienced in these skills, yes it is dangerous but also extends our self-defense.

week 03:

Q:During the Spanish American War, yellow journalism was used by American newspapers to gain support for the war. Check out the PBS website Crucible of Empire, and their story about yellow journalism during the war. After gaining an understanding for the concept, find an example of how yellow journalism is used today. For this post, quote a news headline and then comment on how it relates to yellow journalism used during the war. Blog about it.

A: Well one example of yellow journalism used today is false information magazines like when you see the front cover of a magazine and its covering the face of someones body and then making sure theirs a bad statement so you see and it will pull you immediately in wanting to know more, but really the only thing your looking at is things being blowed up by magnifications . And now these days anyone has access to programs for their computers that edit bodies or anything. So with that high technology you can do anything to humilate anyone.

"The Jeans No Man Should Ever Own"
This magazine title is an example of yellow jouralism. And it relates to the wars jouralists because even then magazines were doing anything to grab people's attention through their writing, so they could get the most profit.

Weekly Article #2

John Wayne and Hollywood have portrayed the American Cowboy (http://youtu.be/MHVSCribt3U) in a way that has made this "man" an icon in the history of the United States. While Wayne's portrayal was not always historic in nature, cowboy photographer Erwin E. Smith's was. Choose a photo from Smith's collection and discuss in your article the truths about the American Cowboy. Some things that you could discuss are the struggles and realities of the job, or how Hollywood's portrayal differed from real life

Answer:
I think the struggles in this job is that you have to train these broncos, and sometimes their not always cooperative. By trying to train them it's an all day job, working really hard by training the broncos by what is right and wrong and what they should and should not be doing. Feeding, grooming, cleaning up after them, maybe even getting them sold to a new owner. Maybe your a breeder and you get two broncos to make a new born then you train them and then they get sold. Realities of this job is that you really have to try, and truly care to make them the strongest they are capable of being.
