Q: Read this post from a blog documenting the history of West Indians (people from the Caribbean islands). The blog post discusses several of the issues faced by workers during the construction of the Panama Canal. Write a short journal entry from the point of view of one of the West Indian workers detailing the dangers they faced during the construction of one of the most pivotal man made structures in the world.
A: The building of the panama canal went through 2 phases. The French ( 1881-1889) and American ( 1904-1914) period. In that time building it their were 500 people died every mile, but in a total of deaths they said around 25,000. Some diseases Malaria, Yellow Fever, dysentery, typhoid,dengue they all took a grand toll on lives. It was also know as the "the white mans grave". Although, Panama was also way more deadly for black men then it was for the white. The most brave people through out that time were known as the "Powder men", and they were the ones that transported dynamite my head, and shoulders along with the men who drilled holes on the rocky precipices, regarding in the "accidental explosions."

A: Yes, because it's for their own defense towards the "School of Assasins". If the graduates in Panama come for the work in the united states theirs a chance that they can bring assasins along behind them from their country leading us americans in danger. The more people that are experienced in these skills, yes it is dangerous but also extends our self-defense.

Question:Factory workers often created music that served as a form of protest and a way to get them through the long hours of the workday. After reading the lyrics from the "Song of the Shirt", describe what life must have been like for these textile factory workers.
Answer: Their exhausted they worked for hours till their bodies couldn't take anymore, but they would still have to work as long as the boss wanted them too. Then seem like their falling apart, emotionally and physically she says her fingers were worn down. She's hungry, and sad working their tails off sweat dripping off theirs bodies. And thinking humans live so cheap. With her singing this song throughout the day this would keep her going giving her hope as to see the day of being free.

Question: Explore the primary doc photographs from the Ellis Island website. (You may have to register.) After exploring the photographs, discuss what feelings and experiences immigrants coming to the United States at the turn of the century must have been feeling.
Answer: I think they were probably feeling scared, and nervous because their immigrants trying to come to the United States. In all the photographs they look terrified. Some pictures they look smushed on those boats. They seem like their weak and haven't really breathed fresh air or even gotten a bite to eat. The parents are wishing their kids didn't have to go through this, they seem like they would pray everynight to get to a home where they can have freedom. Like the united states

I think the struggles in this job is that you have to train these broncos, and sometimes their not always cooperative. By trying to train them it's an all day job, working really hard by training the broncos by what is right and wrong and what they should and should not be doing. Feeding, grooming, cleaning up after them, maybe even getting them sold to a new owner. Maybe your a breeder and you get two broncos to make a new born then you train them and then they get sold. Realities of this job is that you really have to try, and truly care to make them the strongest they are capable of being.

The country guys were very country did not like black men, very racist. They didnt believe that black people should be treated like white folks. If they suspected a black man with something they would search him immidetiatly versus a white guy they wouldnt force a search on him. Black people were still looked down upon, they thought if you were black than you shouldn't have the same freedoms as if you were white.

Question: During Reconstruction there was great debate over whether the South should be granted amnesty. What are your thoughts? Defend your argument.
Answer: The south did basically get pitty because of Lincolns choice. Lincoln did not want to punish the southerners, or reorganize the southern society. He also wanted the reconstruction to be a very short process, he did not want to have to spend a long time or alot of thought even in this reconstruction. But i feel that the south should get pitty because if Lincoln did not want to spend alot of time on them he didn't feel it as a necessary concern.

The reason that Abraham Lincoln was more concerned about the union was because he was racist. To him slavery was completely acceptable which in return would make him want to push aside the issues of slavery and look into other pressing matters during hes turn in president.

In our society today it is very common to place people with in a stereotype because people feel like they need to belong to a certain group or club to feel important. When people don't conform to a typical stereotype often they're made fun of or shunned from society for being different.

Countries should not leave history out of their teachings because no matter how disturbing negative or unfortunate it may be it still has altered the way we live today in some manner. Which allows us to see how the world became what it is today if we left out the bad things that happened to everyone else in the world we would be depriving ourselves of serious growth and change as a whole.

depends, because each event in history has a place and a time which needs to be explained in a manor that everyone understands but it can be adapted to make things more interesting to give detail based on personal experiences based on the teacher.
